17_Utica Street & Utility Improvements Project Update 20260930
Week of September 28:
- The contractor has completed watermain and water service installations in Phase 2A along East Main Street.
- The contractor has also completed sections of road construction in Phase 2A along East Main Street.
- Beginning at 6:30am on October 1st:
- All traffic wishing to access Schultz Street & Railroad Street must enter/exit from Center Street (CSAH 33). See Figure 1 below for route.
- The temporary mailbox bank installed at the Schultz Street intersection for all residents in Phase 2 with a mailbox along East Main Street will be moved to the WEST SIDE of the intersection.
- The contractor will begin utility work in Phase 2B with road construction to follow.
- Once all utility work and road construction is completed in Phase 2B, the contractor will begin utility work in Phase 2C.
Temporary Water System:
- If you have any kind of issue with your water service, now or at any time during the project, please contact Nolan Boice right away.
- **When connected to the temporary water service, residents are encouraged to let their water run briefly before using it, especially during warm and sunny weather. Temporary water lines may warm up when exposed to direct sunlight, which can cause the water from the faucet to be unexpectedly hot when you first turn it on. Running the water for a short time will help clear the warmed water from the line and bring in cooler water.**
- Reminders for working around a temporary water line:
- The temporary water system will be a 2-inch pipe in the boulevard and service branches will be a smaller diameter hose connection to the house.
- PLEASE DO NOT touch or attempt to move the temporary water lines.
- PLEASE DO NOT mow over the temporary water line.
- The Contractor will berm the water lines at each driveway so residents can access their driveway. It’s OK to drive over the bermed water line.
School Bus Pickup/Dropoff:
- All bus stop locations are accessible by both bus services at this time.
- Any temporary changes to bus stop locations will be communicated to residents through the bus service.
Center Street (CSAH 33):
- Due to railroad permitting delays, all work along Center Street (CSAH 33) is postponed until 2027.
Project Notes:
- Thank you in advance for your continued attention to project safety in the work zone.
- A sewer lining information sheet and example door hanger work notice were uploaded to the city’s website. We encourage all residents to check out both.
- A phasing plan figure has been added to the city website. This is for residents to reference and understand where work is occurring when phases are called out in the weekly updates. We encourage all residents to check it out.
Contact: Please reach out to Nolan Boice, the Resident Project Representative, at 507-884-4877 or nolan [email protected] with any questions.
Note – The reported schedule will always be flexible due to weather and other reasons. This update is meant to provide information as we know it at the time of the update preparation. Real time schedule updates can be obtained by calling Nolan Boice.
Please be mindful of your speed in work zones. This is for the safety of everyone in a work zone.
